How it works
What is the Runway Calculator?
Runway is how many months your company can operate before running out of cash at current burn rate. Essential for fundraising timing and expense planning.
Formula
Runway (months) = Cash Balance Γ· Monthly Net Burn
Divide available cash by monthly burn (expenses minus revenue).
Worked example
Inputs: $500,000 cash Β· $50,000/month net burn
- Runway = $500,000 / $50,000 = 10 months
Runway = 10 months
Benefits & benchmarks
- 18+ months runway is comfortable before Series A
- Under 6 months often triggers urgent fundraising
